Squirrel proofing
Professional squirrel proofing for homes, landlords and businesses, with clear advice and a quotation before any work starts.
Grey squirrels getting into lofts can chew timbers, insulation and electrical cables, which can create a fire risk. They are also noisy and persistent once they have found a way in.
We survey the roof space to confirm squirrels are the cause and find exactly how they are getting in. Once the squirrels have gone, we proof the entry points so they cannot get back in. We do not trap or remove squirrels ourselves. If squirrels are still active, we will explain your options for arranging control first.
Signs to look out for
- Running or scratching in the loft during the day
- Chewed fascias, soffits or roof timbers
- Shredded insulation or nesting material
- Squirrels seen entering the roof line
How we deal with it
Survey
We confirm the species, check the loft for activity and find the entry points on the roof line.
Advice on control
If squirrels are still using the loft, we explain the legal options and what needs to happen before proofing can start.
Proofing
Once we are satisfied no squirrels are inside, we seal the entry points with strong galvanised mesh and other durable materials.
Grey squirrels are an invasive non-native species and it is illegal to release them back into the wild once caught. Red squirrels are protected and must not be harmed. We never seal entry points while squirrels may still be inside, as this would trap them.
Questions about squirrel proofing
Do you trap or remove squirrels?
No. We provide surveys and proofing. If squirrels are still active, we will explain the options for arranging control before we proof the property.
